Dr. Jovanelly will host a geology-related show for The Weather Channel that will air in Fall 2023! This 6-part series has been filmed both in-studio and on-location.
Dr. Tamie J. Jovanelly has been exploring the geological complexities of the Icelandic landscape for more than a decade. Iceland: Tectonics, Volcanics, and Glacial Features (Wiley, 2020) provides a detailed overview of the island’s geology, along with a background introduction that offers the reader information on foundational concepts.
Mrs. Earth is a beauty pageant that advocates for environmental awareness and social responsibility. I am lucky to have been crowned Mrs. Southeast Earth. With this platform I hope to change the view of what a scientist looks like. "Whether it's in heels or it's in hiking boots, let's take a stand for a cleaner planet!"
In collaboration with the American Geoscience Institute I have created a video explaining my research for K-12 audiences in preparation for Earth Science Week 2023 (October 8-14, 2023). This video is intended to support and encourage women to become field scientists.
As a best-selling author, I was happy to collaborate with the American Geophysical Union to share my experiences in writing Iceland: Tectonics, Volcanics, and Glacial Features.
I am excited and surprised to have interviewed by Sarah Williams of Tough Girl podcast. The podcast highlights female explorers for the purpose of lifting and motivating other women to be their authentic best selves. The podcast is listened to in 174 countries and is approaching 1 million downloads.
